Tempe Town Lake Pedestrian Bridge to open in September

Late July marked one year since the bursting of one of Tempe Town Lake’s western dam bladders and the City of Tempe has made substantial strides to ensure the lake’s continued success as a flood control tool, a recreation venue and an economic development center.

All four west dam bladders were replaced in just 91 days last year. Now, the grant-funded Tempe Town Lake Pedestrian Bridge that will shade the bladders is nearly complete. The city is progressing with its work to replace the western dam with a more permanent technology by the end of 2015. As part of this effort, the City Council recently approved a contract with Gannett Fleming to analyze technologies for dam replacement. Information about this process is being up dated at www.tempe.gov/lake.
