National Comedy Acts Visiting Downtown Tempe

MADCAP Theaters has already established itself as a great venue to see live music and awesome indie films, but now it's become a hot spot for local and national comedy acts!  From improv to stand-up, MADCAP Theaters is playing host to some of the funniest people coming to the Valley!  Check out the shows on tap:

  • Marc Maron on April 9 & 10 - For over 15 years, Maron has been writing and performing raw, honest and thought-provoking comedy for print, stage, radio and television. A legend in stand-up community, he has appeared on HBO, Conan, Letterman, his two Comedy Central Presents specials and almost every show that allows comics to perform. His three CDs, "Not Sold Out', 'Tickets Still Available' and 'Final Engagement' are comedy cult classics.

  • Eddie Pepitone on April 9 & 10 (Opening for Marc Maron) - Eddie came to LA working alongside Will Ferrell and Vince Vaughn in Old School. Eddie is a recurring character on The Sarah Silverman show as Eddie the chef at Romanski's. Eddie is on Monk's final season, Flight of the Concords (season 1), It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, ER, Malcolm in the Middle,King of Queens and Last Comic Standing. Eddie is on this season's The Life and Times of Tim on HBO and performs all over LA and New York when he is in town.

  • Jimmy Dore on April 16 & 17 - Dore is the star of several Comedy Central specials, a writer performer for the Off-Broadway hit The Marijuana-Logues, and the host of his own weekly radio show on KPFK Los Angeles.  His latest effort Citizen Jimmy is the award winning one-hour Comedy Central Special that was chosen Best Of 2008 by iTunes, and was named one of the top 5 comedy dvds of the year by Punchline Magazine. Jimmy co-hosts the immensely popular podcast Comedy and Everything Elsebalongside Todd Glass and Stef Zamorano.  It is Jimmy's everyman style and razor-sharp material that draws people in and has made him one of fastest rising stars in comedy today.

  • Todd Barry On April 23 & 24 - You may have seen Todd as Mickey Rourke's not-so-nice boss in The Wrestler; as the annoying bongo player on HBO's Flight of the Conchords; or in roles on Sex And the City, The Larry Sanders Show, Chappelle's Show, The Sarah Silverman Program, Pootie Tang, Bored To Death, and Road Trip . In 2003, he was named Entertainment Weekly's "It Standup." He's performed on Letterman, Conan, and in two of his own Comedy Central Presents specials. You can also hear his voice on many cartoons, including Dr. Katz: Professional Therapist, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Home Movies, Squidbillies, Hey Monie, Freak Show, and Lucy, The Daughter of the Devil

  • Marvin's Room Improv Comedy On April 24 - An improv troupe made up of five friends who met performing comedy at ASU.  Here is what they do... the Marvins pick a word shouted from the audience and form a show around it.  The best part is they MAKE IT ALL UP ON THE SPOT.  It's entirely improvised.  How can that be funny?  It can't.  So, if you're looking for a really bad time Saturday night and really want to feel good about yourself by watching something absolutely excruciatingly awful, go visit Marvin's Room.
