Dixon Golf Kicks Off Slew of Summer Openings

Tempe, AZ – The Downtown Tempe Community (DTC) is pleased to announce that Mill Avenue District is continuing to thrive into the hot Summer, with five new business openings in the next month alone. Dixon Golf, the world’s only manufacturer of high performance, eco-friendly golf balls, is the first to host its grand opening on July 16 at the Tempe Transit Center from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Other retailers and restaurants will follow with planned openings in August 2010.

Dixon Golf is excited to be opening their international headquarters in Mill Avenue District, especially in the Tempe Transit Center, which is a LEED Platinum Certified Building and fits with their company philosophy of being eco-friendly. Dixon Golf’s third floor space will include offices, two conference rooms, a putting green and a golf simulator. The countertops will be made from recycled paper, called paper stone, and the veneer will be made from bamboo. Their grand opening on July 16 will feature food from local restaurants, such as La Bocca Urban Pizzeria and Wine Bar, plus live music, and appearances from Mayor Hugh Hallman and actor Kevin Sorbo.

In August, Mill Avenue District will welcome four more retailers and restaurants from several different genres:

• Stan’s Metro Deli (4th Street & Mill Avenue)
• Kanpai Sushi (7th Street & Mill Avenue)
• Poppa Maize (7th Street)
• Canteen Modern Tequila Bar (6th Street & Mill Avenue)

With this increased interest in the Mill Avenue District and the purchase of the Tempe Gateway Building, more and more openings are expected to be announced towards the end of summer and into Fall.
