APS Fantasy of Lights Kicks Off Holiday Season
The APS Fantasy of Lights Opening Night Parade is Friday, Nov. 27, from 6:30-9 p.m., in the Mill Avenue District. Join thousands of spectators as downtown Tempe is lit with holiday cheer, capped off by an appearance by Santa.
After your post-Thanksgiving shopping spree, bring the family down to this free, festive parade set amid the twinkling holiday atmosphere of downtown Tempe. The parade’s grand marshals will be Bert and Ernie of Sesame Street.
The parade follows Mill Avenue south from Third Street to Seventh Street. It turns west onto Seventh Street, past the holiday tree at Centerpoint Plaza and ends near Maple Avenue and Fifth Street. After the parade, Santa will be in the lobby of MADCAP Theaters at Seventh Street and Maple Avenue, to hear children’s special gift requests. There will also be a Fantasy of Film event inside MADCAP, where patrons can watch classic Christmas and holiday movies for free.
